Preparing for overnight hike with your child

Due to frequent requests, I am trialing an online lecture on how to prepare for an overnight hike. The purpose of this lecture to prepare your family for an overnight or short multi-day hike.


The lecture will cover the following topics

  • Why you would want to go hiking?
  • What kind of hiker are you?
  • Buying gear
  • Big Three: Sleep Systems, Shelter and backpack
  • Clothing and footwear for the hike
  • Gadgets to bring
  • Cook kit
  • Toilet and Hygiene
  • Food and water
  • Comfort items to bring. Games. Books.
  • How to pack
  • What is Base Weight vs Total Weight
  • Where to find additional resources

Registered participants will receive a zoom log-in code on the day of the lecture.


For non-members registrant, the fees you paid for the lecture may be use toward WAFBC membership ($45), if you sign up within 3 months.  


Cancellation with full refund permitted within 1 day of the scheduled event.
